Who builds these

A CPA tax director with fifteen years in complex corporate tax — the same files, released rather than rebuilt every spring.

CPA, Québec. Fifteen years across corporate reorganizations, foreign affiliate reporting and the interest limitation regime. These workbooks were firm files first; they were documented, peer-tested and released second. Nothing here is tax advice — the judgment on your file stays yours.

  • Macro-free by designPlain .xlsx. Nothing for IT to whitelist, nothing to trust-prompt.
  • Tie-out checkedDiagnostics on every schedule, with one master check on the cover.
  • Cross-referencedEach figure carries the return or schedule line number it supports.

01

How these are built

Every workbook is released against a written internal quality standard, and the result is recorded per product before it ships. These are the parts a buyer can verify from the first tab.

  1. Input, calculation and output stay separated

Blue is an input you own. Black is a formula. A third colour means the figure came from another tab. The legend is stated in the workbook, and the convention holds on every sheet.

  2. Every figure carries a cross-reference

A dedicated column maps each amount to the return or schedule line it supports, so preparing the return is transcription rather than re-derivation.

  3. Tie-out diagnostics, not trust

Each schedule has its own checks — continuity closing equals the sum of its parts, allocations foot to the total — surfacing as OK or CHECK, with one master check cell on the cover.

  4. A review and sign-off tab

Preparer, reviewer, date and notes rows, per schedule. The file arrives already shaped for the review it will get.

  5. Scope and exclusions are stated, not implied

A version and assumptions tab carries the changelog, the assumptions made, the legislative references implemented, and what the release deliberately does not cover.

  6. Macro-free .xlsx, no external links

Zero macros by design and no links to other files, so the workbook opens without a security prompt in a locked-down firm environment and behaves the same on any machine.

  7. Formulas locked, inputs open

Sheet protection is on and has no password — a guardrail against an accidental overwrite, not a lock on your own file. Unprotect it if you need to; the instructions say so.

  8. Legislative references by section number

Calculation sheets cite provisions rather than paraphrase them. A reviewer checking a treatment gets a section number to check it against.

  9. Clean in the shipped state

No error values anywhere, with sample data in place or cleared out. Print setup is done on every printable sheet: one page wide, headers repeated, footer carrying product, version and page.

  10. Tested by someone other than the author

Each release is peer-tested against a scenario completed unaided, and one schedule is rebuilt from blank inputs using only the instructions tab.

  11. Version history discipline

Versions are numbered, dated and changelogged. When a correction ships, you can see what changed and decide whether it touches a file you already filed.

See the file before you buy it

Each product ships with a sample PDF printed straight out of the workbook: the cover, the instructions and colour legend, one full calculation schedule, the diagnostics block, and the version and assumptions tab with the stated exclusions.

Questions

Is this tax advice?

No. These are productivity tools — Excel templates that automate calculations and provide documentation structure. Nothing here is tax, legal or accounting advice, and buying a template does not create a professional relationship. You remain responsible for the accuracy of anything you file and for your own professional judgment on every file.

What do I need to run them?

Excel 2019 or later, or Microsoft 365 — Windows or Mac. No add-ins, no subscription to anything of ours, and no internet connection to use the file. The workbooks are ordinary .xlsx files.

Do they contain macros?

None, by design. A macro-free workbook opens in a firm with locked-down Office security without an exception request, and it can be reviewed by anyone who can read a formula.

Does any of my client data leave my machine?

No. The templates are local Excel files. There is no telemetry, no cloud component, no external link and no call home. Whatever you type into a workbook stays where you put it.

How is it delivered?

Through a Payhip checkout, with the download available immediately on purchase. There is no waiting period and no manual fulfilment step.

What does the licence actually allow?

It depends on the tier: an In-house Licence covers your own entity and corporate group; a Practice Licence covers one firm preparing work for clients; an Enterprise Licence covers a group where more than one firm needs access. Every tier is perpetual, with unlimited users and files within its scope. Finished client deliverables you produce with it are yours.

Do I get updates?

Minor updates released for the tax year you purchased — formula corrections and clarifications — are free. A version built for a new tax year is a new product and a new purchase.

What if it does not work for me?

A 14-day technical compatibility guarantee: if a workbook cannot be made to work as documented after a reasonable support attempt, the purchase is refunded. Change of mind on an already-downloaded file is not grounds for a refund.

What kind of support is included?

Reasonable email support on how the workbook works — what a formula does, how to navigate a tab, how to resolve a technical problem with the file. Not support on tax positions or how a template should be applied to a specific fact pattern.

Are French versions available?

This page is bilingual and the legal documents are available in French. French workbooks are in development — join the release-notes list and you will hear when one is ready.
